Developing the Wardensville Confluence
From Construction to Connection!
Hi everyone,
The dream is now a shared mission! Thank you for following the journey to revitalize the old White Star building and launch BBQ Country of West Virginia. As a Wardensville native (East Hardy High, Marshall Alum), I am investing my passion back into my hometown. We are creating a vibrant hub for food and community connection where this beloved landmark stands. We have moved past the paperwork—we are now in the heat of execution!
What’s New: Infrastructure is Arriving!
Our project has made massive strides. We are no longer just planning; we are installing the systems that will run our business.
-
Safety & Compliance: We officially received a "thumbs up" from the Fire Marshal, clearing a major regulatory hurdle.
-
National Partnerships: Coca-Cola has completed their site survey for our fountain system, and we have locked in Toast as our POS provider.
-
Kitchen Transformation: New kitchen flooring and wall panels arrive this Thursday.
-
The Heart of the BBQ: Our custom-built open pit is home in Wardensville after its multi-state journey.
-
The Dining Space: We are moving in our furniture to finalize the look and feel of our community gathering spot.
The Mission
Revitalizing the White Star building means:
-
Creating a Gathering Place: A vibrant spot for locals and visitors to make lasting memories.
-
Boosting the Local Economy: Generating jobs and supporting local producers.
-
Preserving History: Honoring a town landmark while forging a bright future.
How Your Contribution Fuels Our Launch
I am personally funding this project through savings and part-time work to ensure every donated dollar goes directly toward our opening. Your investment helps us power through this final stage:
-
Kitchen & Inventory: Sourcing high-quality ingredients and finalizing our specialized equipment.
-
Community Presence: Supporting our participation in the 1st Annual Wardensville Spring Fest this May!
-
Operational Reserve: Covering final permits, insurance, and utilities during this critical push.
Our Progress Tracker
To date, personal funding and community contributions have successfully covered:
-
BBQ Country Franchise Fee & State Business Registration
-
Food Handlers Certification & Health Permit Filing
-
Commercial Insurance, Bonds, and Business Checking
-
Full Deposit and Transport of our Custom Open Pit Smoker
-
Purchase of Kitchen Flooring and Wall Panels (Arriving this week!)
-
Acquisition of Dining Furniture for our 2026 opening.
With deepest gratitude,
Eddie Williams
